Peter Anker Larsen, obituary
TUCSON, Arizona — Peter Anker Larsen, of Tucson, Arizona, Edward Jones Financial Advisor, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on October 14, 2024 at the age of 76.
Born on September 30, 1948, in Medford, Massachusetts, Peter was a man of unwavering kindness and love of new people, international travel, and amazing food. In 1987, Peter traveled to Germany where he met the love of his life, his third wife, Nadia, at the Anuga International Food Show in Cologne, Germany where they shared amazing food, the second love of his life.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Nadia Larsen; his beloved sister, Becky Wood, and his cherished children, Ginger Poag, Sylvia Stein, Bridgette Larsen, and Andrew Larsen; his grandchildren, Alex, Alidarryn, Aveena, Chloe, and Archie; his nephew Simon, who all live across the U.S. and across the globe. Peter grew up on Main Street in Thomaston, Maine, son of a Ship’s Captain, he served proudly in the 3rd Infantry U.S. Army.
His legacy lives on through his family, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Peter was known for his kindness, genuineness, and his positivity. A member of the Rincon Optimist Club, and an avid golfer, he could always be found at Sabino Road Baptist Church on Sundays, or at the office working the other 6 days a week, because he truly loved helping others.
Edward Jones was his second career, at age 45, after retiring from running Atwood Brothers Lobster Company in Tenants Harbor, Maine and The Black Pearl Restaurant and Nadia’s Place, in Rockland, Maine. Peter knew life is meant to be enjoyed, and when he wasn’t working, he constantly traveled for fun, food, and adventure by land, sea, air, and snow - to over 60+ countries. He had just returned from a trip with his wife to the Amalfi Coast, in Italy closely followed by another trip to Chile, Argentina with his 70+ Ski Club last month.
Peter was one of those salt of the earth, authentically good-natured people that will leave a lasting impact in our memory. His sincerity and genuine love of food, travel, and people brought joy not only to him but to everyone around him. Peter Larsen will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those he shared a cheerful story with, a cold Guinness with, or a delicious meal and picturesque view with.
A private funeral will be held at Seaside Cemetery, Tenants Harbor, Maine.
