Paul E. McGurren daughters donate their father’s fly-fishing, tying books to Lincolnville Community Library
Lincolnville Community Library has announced the addition of the Paul E. McGurren Collection of Fly-fishing and Fly-tying books to the library. This collection includes many of the outstanding books about fishing which were part of Paul McGurren’s personal collection.
The collection was donated by his daughters, Emma and Clara McGurren in memory of their father who passed away in April.
Besides being an author, publishing articles in Fly Rod and Reel, Downeast Magazine, and the Free Press, Paul was a registered Maine Guide who was the center of the Midcoast Maine’s fly fishing community for over 30 years. Paul fished and guided all over Maine and he shared his love of the sport by running the fly shop at Maine Sport Outfitters for decades and he also developed the annual fly fishing seminar for women.
This collection reflects his broad interest in the environment and the health and wellbeing of the rivers and waters of Maine as well as his expertise in tying flies. The collection is available for circulation and interlibrary loan.
