NAC honors 10 area athletes for academic achievements

WATERVILLE — The North Athletic Conference announced its 2019-2020 winter/spring all-academic team earlier this month with a handful of Midcoast natives making the list. 

In order to be eligible, student athletes must achieve at least sophomore standing and earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Eligible student-athletes additionally must compete in at least two seasons of a NAC sport over two academic years.

The NAC winter/spring all-academic team recognizes student athletes in winter sports (men's and women's basketball) and spring sports (baseball, softball, men's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's outdoor track & field).

Sport honors are listed for 2019-20 for men's and women's basketball, while spring sport honors reflect the 2019 season.

A total of 186 student-athletes from 10 universities were named to the all-academic team, including the below Midcoast natives. 

Men’s Basketball: Nicholas DePatsy of Waldoboro and Maine Maritime Academy

Women’s Basketball: Kelci Faulkingham of Belfast and Thomas College

Women’s Basketball: Melinda Ogden of Searsport and Maine Maritime Academy

Baseball: Brandon Smith of Winterport and Husson University

Men’s Lacrosse: Jack Gallagher of Camden and Thomas College

Men’s Lacrosse: Jet Magri of Lincolnville and Northern Vermont University at Lyndon

Softball: Krysta Porter of Unity and Thomas College

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field: Amber Beaulieu of Northport and Thomas College

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field: Faith Beaulieu of Northport and Thomas College

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field: Paige Ireland of Searsport and University of Maine at Farmington
