ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Recreation Center will be hosting pickup games of floor hockey and roller hockey Tuesday, July 7 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at its facility in Rockport. 

Roster spots for each sport are capped at 22 due to the ongoing pandemic. 

Shin guards for floor hockey are recommended, according to the facility, and regular hockey sticks or floor hockey sticks are fine to use.

Cost is $5 per person and you are asked to either call 236-9400 or register at midcoastrec.org to hold your roster spot.

No contact is allowed during play, only stick checks.

There will be some modified rules to play.

Face-offs are eliminated and the game will start by one team starting at half rink. Protective equipment including helmet is required for roller hockey.

“We are asking people to respect social distancing and to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before we start,” the facility said. “Roller Hockey equipment should be put on in your car or at home before arriving.” 

This is open to participants high school aged and up, and the facility is looking for a few people interested in serving as goalie.
