Midcoast runners participate in Festival of Champions

BELFAST — The 20th edition of the Maine Cross Country Festival of Champions was held Saturday, Oct. 2 in Belfast and drew scores of cross country runners from around the region. 

Fifty-five teams earned team scores in the boys division with more than 600 runners, while 49 teams earned team scores in the girls division with more than 500 runners. 

Runners from Oceanside, Camden Hills, Belfast, Medomak Valley and Searsport participated in the meet. 

Bonny Eagle won the girls division with a total time of 1:38:14.39. Locally, Camden Hills placed 11th (1:47:56.80), Belfast placed 43rd (2:07:48.44), Oceanside placed 45th (2:21:38.08) and Medomak Valley placed 47th (2:15:04.38). 

Brunswick won the boys division with a total time of 1:27:04.58. Locally, Camden Hills placed 35th (1:36:45.21) and Belfast placed 40th (1:38:09.18). 

The fastest individual from the Midcoast in the girls division was Jenna VanRyn of Camden Hills who placed 17th with a time of 19:50.81.

The fastest individual from the Midcoast in the boys division was Connor Daigle of Medomak Valley who placed third with a time of 16:05.87.
