ROCKLAND — Marguerite Lydia Connon, 69, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Sussman House in Rockport, following a long battle with cancer. Born in Rockland, at the Knox County General Hospital, April 18, 1953, she was the daughter of Carroll A. and Carolyn A. Saucier Miller.
Educated in local schools, she was a 1971 graduate of Rockland District High School. She worked many years as a Bookkeeper with the Outward Bound School. After they closed, she worked with Cody’s Restaurant and Rockland Savings Bank.
She met the “Love of her Life,” James R. Connon, and they were married July 29, 1992.
Other than her parents, Marguerite was predeceased by a son Paul M. Landre; three siblings, Martha Butler, Phillip Miller and Louis Miller, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Connon of Rockland; her children, Deborah J. Landre of Owls Head, Richard A. Landre of Gorham, William L. Landre of Auburn; her husband’s children, Brandy L. Oliver and James W. Connon both of Rockland; 7 grandchildren, Ciera Colvin, Danielle Sanborn, Mason and Roman Landre, Adelaide and Cassidy Landre and Kaitlyn McCullough; two sisters, Catherine (Don) Carlson of Rockland, Ruth (Craig) Merrifield of Washington; a sister-in-law, Carol Miller of Newcastle as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9, at 11 a.m. Spring interment will be in Achorn Cemetery, Rockland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Animal Shelter of choice or the Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856.
