Jon Mort exhibits 'Tide Unbound' at annual summer open studio
Jon Mort will host his annual summer open studio “Tide Unbound” on August 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Fieldstone Castle, 129 Marshall Pt Rd, Port Clyde. An Artist Talk will be presented on Saturday at 1 p.m. Featured in this exhibition are new works in graphite, colored pencil as well as never seen before limited edition releases from Jon’s Print Portfolio Collection.
Mort shared that he hopes “Tide Unbound” will draw the viewer into a meditation on the concept of permanence. "Each piece is presented as a single fleeting moment that reflects our place in space and time," said Mort. "This collection clearly represents the powerful influence and inspiration the stark beauty of Maine has had on my creative process. Many of the natural objects featured in 'Tide Unbound' were discovered on the islands off the coast of Port Clyde”.
"While Jon’s startlingly realistic colored pencil and largescale graphite drawings have brought him broad acclaim, he is also a highly sought-after commissioned portrait artist," said curator Karen Adams.
He received Fine Art and Classics degrees from Franklin and Marshall College and his Masters in Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Mort’s creations have been shown in thirty one-person or group museum and gallery exhibitions. He is represented worldwide by Somerville Manning Gallery and the Carla Massoni Gallery. Mort lives and maintains studios in Washington, DC and Port Clyde, Maine. JonMortStudio.com
