Camden Lion John McKay was honored by the Maine Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation with a Curtis D. Lovill Fellowship for his significant contribution to the welfare of the sight and hearing impaired of Maine, especially in the Midcoast area. Lion Karen Martin made the award presentation at the April 19, 2022 Camden Lion meeting.

“School-age children with good vision have a better chance to experience school achievement goals,” said the Lions, in a news release.

Lion John McKay has organized vision screening clinics in local schools and other public locations like the Camden library. These noninvasive screenings can identify vision issues that can be corrected, so those who need help are provided with descriptive paperwork and referred to local vision health care professionals.

“The Camden Lions are very proud and appreciative of Lion John McKay’s work in the vision arena, but also of his many other Lion activities that benefit the local community,” said the release.
