CAMDEN — John Fromer will lead an outdoor presentation on Opening the Perennial Garden at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, May 28, at 12 p.m.

“A lot of exciting things happen in your perennial gardens in spring,” said Merryspring, in a news release. “The growth regulators are at their peak and your plants are growing quickly.”

What kind of care does your garden need in spring? How do you identify plants when they emerge in spring? When is a good time to divide perennials? Are there special needs such as feeding or watering in spring that is different from summer and fall?

The program will start with a talk and then move out to the gardens for a closer look at perennials.

These topics and more will be explored in person at Merryspring Nature Center in Camden by Maine Master Gardener Volunteer and Merryspring Program Director John Fromer.

This is the first in-person talk of the Spring Talk Series co-sponsored by  Camden Riverhouse Hotel. Attendance is free for members; $5 for non-members.

Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round. The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza.
