Jack Shaida and Buck O’Herin to discuss “Land Conservation in Waldo County”
BELFAST — On Thursday, Nov. 2, the Belfast Free Library will host a presentation on “Land Conservation in Waldo County” with Jack Shaida and Buck O’Herin. The talk, which is free and open to all will take place at 6:30 p.m., in the Abbott Room of the library, 106 High Street.
Come and learn about the work of local organizations Coastal Mountains Land Trust and Midcoast Conservancy to conserve land in Waldo County, build new trails, and connect the community to the natural environment.
“Given increasing development pressure and the impact of climate change on our ecosystems, conservation today is critical for a sustainable tomorrow,” said Belfast Free Library, in a news release.
Coastal Mountains Land Trust’s Stewardship and Land Protection Manager, Jack Shaida, and Midcoast Conservancy Board Member Buck O’Herin will also discuss the conservation of Haystack Mountain in Liberty, the creation of an outdoor learning landscape in Waldo County, and offer a wide-ranging conversation about community, conservation, and trails.
