Islesboro woman arrested for trafficking oxycodone
ISLESBORO — A joint investigation by Islesboro police, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and State Police has led to the arrest of 33-year-old Windi St.Thomas of Islesboro for drug trafficking.
According to a press release, and Islesboro Public Safety Director Fred Porter, St.Thomas was charged Feb. 1 with trafficking oxycodone, a class B crime.
She had been under investigation by the agencies for illegally selling 30 milligram pills of the narcotic, for which she did not have a valid prescription.
The investigation had been ongoing for several months, and St.Thomas stands accused of buying illegal drugs and reselling them on the island, as well as in other communities in Knox and Waldo counties. She was allegedly selling the drug for $40-$45 a pill, according to the release.
MDEA Supervisory Special Agent James Pease said the price St.Thomas was charging was higher than he has seen on the streets.
"$45 is a little high, usually they are sold for about $40 a pill, but we heard she was selling them for as much as $50 a pill on the island," said Pease.
When asked where St.Thomas was obtaining the drugs, Pease said it was via the Internet.
"She was buying them from another dealer and bringing them over," said Pease.
St.Thomas is due to appear in court in Belfast March 28.
