Halloween fun at Thomaston Grammar School

Tue, 11/05/2019 - 2:00pm

October 31st at Thomaston Grammar School was a great day. Students began their day with a special assembly presented by Mad Science of Maine. This special event was sponsored by the Friends and Family of TGS group.

The presentation, titled Up, Up, and Away, was a fabulous one! Students learned about: the force that comes from the weight of the earth’s atmosphere pushing down on us, Bernoulli’s principle, how a hot air balloon is launched, how a hovercraft works, and more. There was high audience participation in this fun learning event.

Later in the day students participated in a costume parade. We didn’t let the rain interfere and carried on in the gymnasium instead of on our usual walk outdoors. Students and staff members showed some great spirit and had on some fabulous costumes.

After school we held our annual Trunk-or-Treat event. Again, we didn’t let the rain interfere. The event went on as planned but was relocated to our gymnasium. Families who attended were able to walk the plank, visit Jurassic Park, go to the desert, skip down the yellow brick road, visit the land of the Trolls, have their photo taken with aliens, and much more.

Approximately 500 children and their families attended this great family event.

A fun time was had by all!
