BELFAST — Game Warden K9 Storm and Game Warden Chad Robertson rescued a missing 80-year-old Belfast man, who was found early this morning unable to walk and severely hypothermic in a shallow ditch filled with water, and nearly a half mile from his home.

Harold Buckmore, 80, of Belfast, was last seen by his wife at their residence on Hunt Road when he went to bed at 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

She woke up at 3 a.m. and unable to find him, she called police. Belfast police searched the area upon arriving and also contacted the Maine Warden Service, according to a news release from the warden service.

Several game wardens started searching around 4:30 a.m., including Game Warden Robertson and his K9, Storm.

Warden Robertson and Storm started on a track at the residence, which led down Hunt Road.

After approximately 4/10ths of a mile down the Hunt Road and onto the Jesse Robbins Road, Storm veered off the road and located Buckmore who was in the woods, laying in a shallow ditch filled with water, unable to get up at approximately 7 a.m., July 24.

Buckmore was shaking and severely hypothermic. Belfast Ambulance came to the scene, and transported Buckmore to Waldo County General Hospital, where he is stable and recovering, the Warden Service said.
