More and more, people are turning to Craigslist to sell, buy, barter and give away myriad categories of goods and services. Following is a verbatim sampling — typos and all — of some of the posts we found in the "free" category this past week.

Many of the posts are the usual stuff - slightly broken old televisions, furniture and chickens. And someone is usually giving away free hangers, though not this week. This week, there is a free barn, medical equipment, more Christmas decorations, including a lighted tree, and rolls of wire fencing.  Craigslist Maine has these and more, all for free. Really, it does. Read it for yourself.

Free Project Wood! Several lengths, treated (Augusta)

Free wood! Leftovers from an old bed and some other wood I found; various sizes and lengths, the longest is about 6'10" and maybe two feet wide. Wood is treated so not suitable for burning, but great for projects! Free for the taking as long as you haul it away.

Bathroom sink/vanity top (Raymond)

It's in pretty good shape. Needs to be cleaned. I am remodeling. The actual measurements is 49 inches wide and 19 inches deep. Sink is in the middle.

1) Oversized blue and gold tapestry fabric armchair - arms have been scratched by cat - Awesome with slipcover! Extremely comfy!
2) Wooden frame camp style chair with plaid cushions. Great shape, comfy, but really ugly in my opinion - great camp chair or in front of the workshop/basement woodstove. Could be nice with new cushions, just never got around to it myself.

Exercise workout rowing machine (Saco)

Haven't used it in years. Get in better shape this year. The gas struts (which provide resistance) probably need to be replaced. One seems to work, but the other doesn't.

Artificial tree, i dont really want anymore. i was going to throw it out, but figured i would check to see if anyone out there wants it. Lights do not work, but might if you feel like checking every bulb to see which one is out. doesnt look great, but gets the job done...stands straight has never fallen since i got it 5 years ago. some branches are breaking. comes in a kind of handy bag, bag rips some, but it holds the pieces together.
again-THE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK...the lights in the photos are strands i put up myself.

Free Sleeper Couch (West Bath)

This is an older sleeper couch that has a little life left in it. We have 2 couches and not enough space. This was given to us and we decided we liked our other couch better. Comes with cover which needs a good cleaning, couch needs cleaning as well.
I am guessing this is from the 80's? Pull out mattress is in good condition. Not the most comfy couch, but might be good for another family. It is missing one back leg, we use a brick and it's been stable. Have original leg that was broken off in moving into our home. We have cats, so keep that in mind.
