Embroidering up a design storm at KDK in Thomaston
THOMASTON — KDK llc Apparel Printing & Embroidery in Thomaston opened doors for business in December 2010. Since that time, they’ve enjoyed a steady growth as they offer printed and embroidered garments, printed banners, car magnets, business cards and coffee mugs, wedding and event invitations.
“What ever you need to help your business grow,” said Trina Johnson, owner of KDK.
“Business is good,” said Trina. “We were really busy during the holidays and continue to stay busy with the embroidery.”
KDK serves local fire and EMS services, schools, teams and individuals, among other organizations and entities.
“You don’t have to order in large quantities," Trina said. "I can do just one shirt if you like. It’s really great for a birthday, anniversary or special occassion.”
KDK offers more than 30 brands and colors of apparel to choose from. They can decorate your apparel with embroidery, screenprinting or in full color using a digital process.
KDK is a home-based business.
Trina said, “It’s very convenient for us to work at home with our kid’s busy sports schedule.”
The Johnsons’ have three children. Krysta, 17; Darik, 9; and Kylee, 7. Hence the name KDK. Trina has done design work since 2004.
"I worked in newspaper and internet design for 13 years and we moved to the Midcoast eight years ago. In 2010 we decided to get the equipment, do the training and open the doors. It's time to expand and get a larger space,” said Trina. "We need a larger embroidery machine. We would really like to get into a retail space and stay in Thomaston. We like it here."
