Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District invites the public to its 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting and Conservation Awards Celebration on Wednesday, October 20, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Join KLSWCD online from the
comfort of your own home for this year’s District highlights, conservation awards and a panel discussion on forest carbon mitigation.

Highlights and Conservation Awards presentations will be followed by three speakers discussing forest carbon storage mitigation.

The three speakers are experts in their fields and bring academic, professional, and organizational experience regarding the health of forests, forest management practices and their discussions while serving on the Governor’s Forest Carbon Task Force, according to KLSWCD, in a news release.

Speakers are:

Dr. Adam Daigneault, E.L. Giddings Associate Professor of Forest Policy & Economics at the School of Forest Resources at the University of Maine;

Barrie Brusila of Mid-Maine Forestry;

David (“Tracy”) Moskovitz, who helped established Hidden Valley Nature Center (HVNC). Moskovitz and Bambi Jones founded HVNC as a nonprofit educational organization on 1,000 acres of their land. In 2018, Midcoast Conservancy acquired HVNC and continues to operate the protected land as an educational resource for forest conservation practices.

Admission to the Awards Celebration is free and donations are appreciated. Registration is required to receive a link. Please visit https://www.knox-lincoln.org/2021-annual-awards-banquet to register for the event.
