CAMDEN — The public is invited to celebrate International Dot Day on Wednesday, September 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Camden Public Library. Children’s librarian Miss Amy will facilitate a collaborative community art project outdoors in the library’s Children’s Garden.

All ages are welcome to participate, and art supplies will be provided at the event.

International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009. The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark.”

The Camden Public Library has been celebrating Dot Day annually for many years, and while the art projects may be different each year, the intention remains the same: to bring neighbors together to create art, and to revel in the special ways that we can shine as individuals while also helping our community shine brighter.
