Bruce Arthur Laycock, obituary
LINCOLNVILLE — Bruce Arthur Laycock, passed from this life to eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 18, 2024. Born on April 29, 1936, he was the second son of Arthur Laycock and Ruth Elizabeth (Makin) Laycock.
Bruce spent all of his adult life devoted to his Lord and his faith. His occupation was as a computer programmer, spending the last 15 years before retirement with Bath Iron Works. He built many things with wood, including his workshop and boardwalk at his home, furniture, cooling racks for many cooking friends, and a renovated barn in Searsport.
Raised by the sea in Warwick, Rhode Island, he was always most comfortable on the water or on the water’s edge. He loved to hike coastal Maine, especially Acadia National Park. And he loved his family in Lincolnville.
Bruce learned to play his mother’s violin at age 50. He enjoyed playing for church and for his wife Elizabeth. He learned to sing in a boys’ choir, and sang bass in church. He enjoyed working wood for the woodstove with his wife. They spent many hours doing this and enjoyed the teamwork.
He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Arthur George, Carl and Charles, and his cousin Charles Makin.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Anne (Bailey) Laycock; son Parker George Swayze and his wife Kate Elizabeth (Holland) Swayze; son Timothy Laycock; daughter Carrie Begin; grandson Brice Laycock; and his cousin Malcolm Makin.

The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10 a.m., at the South Hope Community Church with Pastor Jamie Bickel officiating. Private family interment will be in the Youngtown Cemetery in Lincolnville.
