Belfast Police Beat
BELFAST — The Belfast Police Department reported the following activity Aug. 1 -12. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Aug. 3
Amy A. Paine, 35, of Belfast, was summonsed for an inspection sticker violation.
Andrew Philbrick, 30, of East Orland, was arrested for operating under the influence on High Street, possession of a useable amount of marijuana, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and operating with an open alcohol container. Detective Bryan Cunningham said that Belfast Police received a report of erratic operation in the area. Sgt. Brian Lunt met the reported vehicle exiting Circle K and followed it to confirm the report. Upon pulling the vehicle over, Lunt noticed a marijuana grinder in the back seat and subsequently located marijuana and paraphernalia. When given a breathalyzer, Philbrick's blood alcohol content registered as .16, according to the report.
Aug. 5
Edward J. Gotham, 43, of Belfast, was summonsed for assault.
Aug. 6
Anna Finkelstein, 24, of Hope, was summonsed for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer at Hannaford.
Fred M. Garello, 57, of Warwick, RI., was summonsed for speeding 55 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 1.
Kenneth P. Oulette, 43, of Randolph, Mass., was summonsed for speeding 55 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 1.
Aug. 7
Officer Matthew Cook responded to the scene of an accident where a vehicle had stopped at the intersection of Pitcher Road and Poors Mills Road when a second vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and rear-ended the car ahead of it.
Officer Cook responded to the scene of an accident where a vehicle was yielding to oncoming traffic while entering Route 1 from the Waldo Avenue exit and was rear-ended by a vehicle that failed to yield.
Aug. 8
Cheyenne J. Larrabee, 20, was summonsed for possession of alcohol by a minor.
Misty Linscott, 23, of Northport, was arrested for violating conditions of release.
Elizabeth Brown, 23, of Belfast, was arrested for violating conditions of release.
Aug. 9
Stephen Lobley, 61, of Belfast, was summonsed for an inspection sticker violation.
Leroy K. Thomas, 75, of Swanville, was summonsed for speeding 46 mph in a 25 mph zone on Robbins Road.
Patricia R. Aldrich, 74, of Belfast, was summonsed for speeding 41 mph in a 25 mph zone on Robbins Road.
Jonathan Saball, 27, of Searsport, was summonsed for failure to register a motor vehicle (30-150 days).
Allison E. Brown, 30, of Bucksport, was summonsed for an inspection sticker violation.
Aug. 10
Officer Mike Rolerson responded to the scene of two-vehicle accident on Northport Avenue. A vehicle was headed northbound when it stopped in traffic and a second vehicle, which was following too closely, failed to stop and rear-ended the first vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
Aug. 11
Brenda L. Bryant, 41, of Swanville, was summonsed for speeding 40 mph in a 25 mph zone on High Street.
Amanda M. Schiessel, 18, of Brooks, was summonsed for speeding 34 mph in a 25 mph zone on High Street.
Daniel A. Carchide, 32, of Searsport, was arrested for assault, domestic violence assault and aggravated criminal trespass. Carchide allegedly drove to the residence of an ex-girlfriend and assaulted a man who was also in the residence by punching him in the back of the head, according to Detective Cunningham. Carchide then grabbed the woman by the front of her shirt and shoved her. The man who was initially assaulted called Belfast Police, but Carchide had fled the residence by the time officers arrived. Maine State Police arrived at the scene with a K9 unit to assist in finding Carchide, but the K9 officer encountered a porcupine and was unable to locate the man. Carchide was eventually located by Searsport Police and arrested.
Aug. 12
Margaret A. Smith, 51, of Belfast, was summonsed for failure to provide proof of insurance.
Teklu D. Hassenet, 27, of Bangor, was summonsed for failure to provide proof of insurance.
