CAMDEN — One hundred eighty three sailors ranging from 10 to 18 years old from the New England region set sail in Camden as part of the U.S. Sailing Regional Junior Olympics on July 17-18.

The regatta was sailed in one-design boats including Optimists, 420s, and Lasers.

“It was an incredible event that brought 183 young sailors together to sail the waters of West Penobscot Bay,” said Sue Conover, Director of Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program. “The success of this regatta was possible due to the staff of the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program, a team of hearty volunteers, Lyman Morse, and the Camden Yacht Club.”

The regatta was hosted by the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program, Lyman-Morse at Wayfarer and the Camden Yacht Club, and sponsored by Sperry, New England Ropes, Camden Coast Real Estate, the Camden Real Estate Company, Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty, and Camden National Bank.
