Glen ‘Fireball’ Alley, obituary

VINALHAVEN — Glen “Fireball” Alley, 70, of Vinalhaven, died on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport.  Born on Vinalhaven on April 17, 1947, he was the son of Harold C. and Lorraine (MacDonald) Alley.  

A graduate of Vinalhaven High School, Glen served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era then returned to Vinalhaven.   

For many years, Glen fished along with his good friend, Billy Wadleigh, worked on his 44-foot Stanley, the Three Sons, doing various types of commercial fishing.  Glen loved to go for long walks and enjoyed spending time with his cat, Pete. 

Surviving is his long-time companion, Marybelle Seawell; two sons, Lyford Alley and his wife, Sandra, and Bradford Alley and his wife, Kristin; two grandchildren, Sarina Alley and Trenton Alley, all of Vinalhaven; brothers, Harold “Amby” Alley and his wife, Pamela, and Stephen Alley and his wife, Pamela, Kenneth “Cracker” Alley; sisters, Carol Sullivan and her husband, Rick, Cynthia Young and her husband, Robert; Faith Osgood and her husband, Justin; and several nieces and nephews.  

A graveside service will be announced in the spring.  If desired, memorial gifts may be made to Vinalhaven Eldercare, P.O.
