ROCKPORT— A single-vehicle rollover crash on Dec. 2 at approximately 1:14 p.m., on Route 1 in Rockport was attributed to driver inattention, according to Rockport Police.

Jamie Wood, 32, of Rockland, was operating a 2005 Subaru Impreza northbound on Route 1 when he headed off the right side of the road, over corrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to flip over on its side. ‘

The exact location of the crash on Route 1 was across the street from Fresh Off The Farm, near the entrance to Wildwood Lane.

Rockport Police Sgt. Jim Moore said that the driver self-extricated himself from the vehicle.

Wood was evaluated at the scene by Northeast Mobile Health and was uninjured. Rockport Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control. The car was pulled from the ditch and towed away by Camden Exxon.

Moore said, “that the accident could have been a lot worse that it was.” He added that there was a cement pillar on the side of the road, near the rollover site, that the vehicle just missed hitting.

Wood was issued a summons by Moore for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
