Panther JV boys look promising for the future
Here is a write up for the Medomak Valley Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Team.
Medomak finished with a combined 8-1-1 record, very impressive for a junior varsity team.
This years team was a JV squad that included five sophomores, and 12 freshmen.
“With such a young team I expected we would struggle for our wins,” said coach Paul Berube. “But they far exceeded my expectations. “When we used our skills to control the ball and worked together in triangular passing concepts we were an imposing team. We scored 23 goals on the season while only giving up 10. Our defense was the strength of our team, limiting our opponents to low quality shots. The last three games of the season were all shutouts. During our practices, we worked to improve our ball possession skills and first touch. Improvements were made and carried over into game play.”
The young Panthers scored 23 goals on the season, along with 12 assists from eight different goal scorers.
Scoring leaders:
Ryan Creamer (5 goals, 1 assist); Wyatt Post (5 goals, 1 assist); Joey Horovitz (4 goals, 2 assists), Cameron Hopkins (4 goals, 1 assist); Jensen Willis (2 goals, 2 assists); Tristan DeVault (goal, assist); Tyler Field (goal); Nick Daniel (goal). Greyson Clark, Nick Hill, Alden McLain, and Colby Willey (assist each).
Defense & Goaltending:
Medomak had three shutouts and five one-goal games during the season.
Playing goalie for most of the games was Kody Pruyne; he was backed up by Kevin White and Isaac Eutsler.
Playing outstanding defense on our fullback line were: Cameron Martin, Johnathon Luce, Alec Coughlin, Kevin White, Tristan DeVault, John Jones, and Jensen Willis.
Controlling the middle of the field were Colby Willey, Alden McLain, Joey Horovitz, Ryan Creamer, Nick Daniel and Nick Hill.
Three Junior swing players helped immensely throughout the season; they are Cameron Martin, Cameron Hopkins, and Isaac Eutsler
“This was a skilled group of players who I enjoyed coaching and look forward to working with them in the future.” said Berube.
