Jammers split regular season doubleheader finale

Sun, 10/11/2015 - 9:00am
There were two great football contests today at the Camden Snow Bowl against their Boothbay Seahawks counterparts.

First, the smallest version of the red, white and black-clad Five Town Football Jammers started and finished strong defeating the Junior Varsity team from Boothbay 26-7.  Theodore Hedstrom led the scoring with two touchdowns. Owen McManus and Reid Chester also put up numbers in the box score.

The day did not end on as much of a high note, however the "nightcap" went down to the last minute for the Varsity Jammers, who turned it over on downs with 1:08 to go in a 12-8 setback to Boothbay, which lead 12-0 at the half.

The Jammer defense turned up two fumble recoveries that were key in their comeback. Joey Corey scored his first career touchdown, and to top it off, Jason Seeber kicked a 2-point conversion through the uprights.

These teams have not finished business for the season. The JV Jammers host Rockland Black at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Snow Bowl.

The fifth and six grade varsity gets a bye next week then host the Rockland Black Tigers varsity crew on Saturday, Oct. 24, also at 11 a.m. and also at the Snow Bowl.  Both teams enter the playoffs with records of 2-4.

Five Town Football asks the entire region to come out and support these players, who on the heels of the cancellation of the Camden Hills Regional High School football season, are breathing life into football along with the Middle School Jammers who next play this week at Hampden. This seventh and eighth-grade team close out the season with consecutive home games on Tuesday, Oct. 20 and Tuesday, Oct. 27, versus Hermon and Belfast, respectively.
