Letter to the editor: Haselton, Shepherd — open-minded, unbiased

I am sorry to see that two candidates for the Rockport Public Library Committee apparently already have made up their minds about the future of the library. With reports by professional library consultant Steve Podgajny and structural engineers, CES Inc. still pending, now hardly would seem the right time to do that. Everyone in the community, including the library committee, needs to keep an open mind at this point.

One nonbinding public vote last November with limited choices does not really indicate what we want for a library to serve the town for the next 50 or 100 years. With new and better information some minds will change. It would be folly to elect people to the library committee now already committed to a position on the issue.

I am supporting Eliza Haselton and Sarah Shepherd for the Rockport Library committee. They will be open-minded and unbiased about the future of the library.
