Maine State Police Troop D beat

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity Feb. 15-22. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Feb. 16

    Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop on Route 220 in Unity for failure to have an inspection sticker. Upon further investigation, the operator Tyler Gelo, 22, of was issued a summons for driving while under suspension.

    Feb. 17

    Trooper Allen stopped Tanner Leach, 33, in China for an expired registration and inspection sticker. Leach's registration had expired in excess of 150 days and she was issued a summons for the offense.

    Feb. 18

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Lorie Weaver, 40, of Windsor, on Route 17 in Windsor for a vehicle defect. Further investigation revealed that the registration on the vehicle was expired (50-plus days) and Weaver was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Sean Mason, 28, on Route 32 in Windsor for a vehicle defect. Further investigation into the stop revealed that the vehicle's registration was expired (150-plus days) and Mason was issued a summons for the offense.

    Feb. 19

    Trooper Smith located and arrested Catherine Urbanowski, 28, of Unity, on an outstanding warrant.

    Trooper Allen arrested Elwyn Mcarthur Jr., 33, at the Augusta District Court on outstanding warrants.

    Feb. 20

    Trooper Krech stopped a vehicle on I-95 for having a plate light out. After running the driver's name, April McDonald, 31, it was discovered that she had an active warrant for her arrest and she was taken into custody and transported to Androscoggin County jail.

    Trooper Krech stopped a vehicle on I-95 for having a loud exhaust. While speaking with the occupants, Trooper Krech smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. The driver, Samuel Johnson, 21, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

    Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop on Route 202 in Unity for speed. A passenger in the back seat of the vehicle was identified as Carl Locke, 27, of Knox. Locke had warrants for his arrest and he was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail.

    Trooper Robinson stopped a vehicle on Route 17 in Augusta for a vehicle defect. The operator of the vehicle, Samuel Grant, 18, of Coopers Mills, was ultimately issued summonses for possession of a usable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Feb. 21

    Trooper Robinson stopped Jason Young, 35, of Unity, on Route 220 in Knox for erratic operation. Troopers Bureau and Sweeney assisted with a vehicle search where marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. Young was arrested for operating under the influence, driving to endanger, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

    Trooper Sweeney was delivering paperwork to a Diane Brown, 56, of Jackson, at her residence. Brown also had a warrant for her arrest and she was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail without incident.

    Feb. 22

    Trooper Sweeney responded to a domestic situation in Burnham. Trooper Sweeney determined there was no probable cause and he had the parties separated with orders to leave each other alone for the remainder of the night. Trooper Sweeney was called back to the scene due to the male subject, Thomas Bubar, 29, of Burnham, coming back to the residence. Trooper Sweeney arrested Bubar for domestic violence terrorizing and disorderly conduct.

    Troopers Gleeson and Krech went to Cross Hill Road in Vassalboro to locate Ervin Morrison, 55, who was arrested on a warrant.
