Maine State Police Troop D beat

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity Jan. 12-26. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Jan. 12

    Troopers Ball and Stevens responded to a 911 hang-up call on Manning Drive in West Gardiner, where a male and female were heard arguing on the other end. Upon arrival both parties were calm and both insisted the 911 call was an accidental dial and no assault of any kind had taken place.

    Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop, making contact with Berry Allen, 32, of Swanville. Further investigation revealed that Allen was in possession of Oxycodone which he could not provide a prescription for and he was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail. In addition to an existing warrant, Allen was charged with possession of oxycodone and operating after suspension.

    Trooper Smith investigated a harassment complaint in Brooks. The suspect was served a harassment notice.

    Jan. 13

    Trooper Allen charged Jessica Brillant, 33, with negotiating a worthless instrument and violating conditions of release.

    Trooper Webber responded to a reported burglary of a garage in the town of Knox.

    Jan. 14

    Trooper Smith stopped a vehicle on Main Street in Unity for an expired inspection decal. The operator, Albert Cecere, 66, of Unity, had a suspended license and a warrant. Cecere was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail. He was also issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Jan. 15

    Trooper Recruit Parks investigated a theft complaint at J&S Oil on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale. Store management reported that an unknown male pressed the "Pay inside" key on the fuel pump, pumped fuel and then left without paying.

    Trooper Sweeney located Laura Leeman, 44, of Unity, and arrested her on a warrant for failure to appear. She was transported to Waldo County Jail.

    Trooper Allen responded to a reported burglary in Litchfield where a Macbook Air and jewelry were taken after forced entry was made into the residence.

    Jan. 16

    Trooper Allen stopped Meredith Prugh, 33, in Gardiner for a vehicle defect. Prugh and her passenger, Michael Bowden, 32, were both on bail conditions and Bowden was arrested for violating conditions of release. Prugh was charged with possession of Schedule W drugs (two counts), sale and use of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child, and violating conditions of release.

    Trooper Sweeney charged Paul Berry, 39, of Belfast with illegal dumping in relation to a case received in May 2014.

    Troopers Sweeney, Robinson and Recruit Peckham arrested Ryan Drake, 35, of Troy, per Drake's Probation officer's request. Drake was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail.

    Trooper Recruit Parks arrested April Dupont, 34, at her residence in Farmingdale on two active warrants. Dupont was transported to Kennebec County Jail.

    Trooper Ferreira issued Joshua Lewis, 24, of China, a summons for operating after suspension after Lewis' vehicle slid off the road on Route 3 in Augusta.

    Trooper Recruit Parks investigated a theft complaint at J&S Oil on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale. Store management reported that an unknown female subject was caught by another customer stealing merchandise. The investigation into her identity continues.

    Jan. 17

    Trooper Stevens stopped a vehicle North on I-295 in West Gardiner for a traffic violation. Trooper Stevens conducted a motor vehicle search and located a usable amount of marijuana and paraphernalia in the vehicle and the operator, Mitchell Newcomb, 22, of Mass., was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana, and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Gleeson stopped a vehicle on I-295 in Bowdoinham for an expired registration sticker. The driver, Michael Barker, of Richmond, was operating without a valid license and was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferland investigated an abandoned vehicle that crashed into a telephone pole off the Belfast Road in Knox. After unsuccessful attempts were made to contact and locate the owner, the vehicle was towed. The crash is still under investigation.

    Jan. 18

    Trooper Sweeney charged Stanley Sturgis, 38, of Swanville, with a violation of the Consumer Solicitation Sales Act. Sturgis had accepted a deposit in Nov. 2014 for undertaking a paving contract without providing the consumer with a written contract.

    Trooper Bureau stopped Craig Talgo, 33, for a seat-belt violation in Prospect. A search of the vehicle was conducted revealing smoked joints, fresh marijuana and a marijuana pipe. Talgo was issued summonses for the offenses .

    Trooper Ball stopped Lisa Spiller, 48, in Gardiner for operating a motor vehicle with expired registration greater than 150 days. Spiller was issued a summons for the offense, in addition to a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance.

    Jan. 19

    Trooper Gleeson stopped a vehicle on Route 9 in Chelsea for speed and an expired registration. The driver, Scott McLaughlin, 61, was issued a summons for the offense.

    Troopers Gleeson and Ball responded to a possibly intoxicated driver at the Goggins IGA in Randolph. The driver, John Darmana, 48, was found not to be intoxicated, but was operating after a license suspension and he was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Jan. 20

    Trooper Ferreira responded to the report of a vehicle off the road on the Townhouse Road in Chelsea. Trooper Ferreira made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Evan Edgecomb, 19, of Chelsea. Edgecomb was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for operating under the influence. He was also issued a summons for possession of alcohol by a minor.

    Jan. 21

    Trooper Recruit Parks investigated a report of a domestic violence assault, which occurred in Chelsea.

    Jan. 22

    Trooper Rogers stopped Amanda Douglas, 20, on I-295 in Bowdoinham for speeding. Douglas is on bail conditions and a deferred disposition. After searching and testing Douglas, she was arrested for violating conditions of release, operating after suspension and possession of scheduled drugs.

    Trooper Rogers stopped Daniel Delano, 39, on Route 27 in Dresden for an inspection violation. Delano is on bail conditions and after a search and testing he was issued a summons for violating conditions of release.

    Jan. 25

    Trooper Ferland stopped Jesse Keegan, 30, on Main Street in Winterport. Keegan was found to have conditions of release and a suspended license and was issued summonses accordingly.
