Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responds to Belmont, Swanville domestic violence calls
BELMONT — Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Littlefield and Sgt. James Greeley responded to an 8 p.m. call for help Nov. 29 in Belmont where the victim stated her former domestic partner, Christopher Shaffer, 39, had allegedly assaulted her.
The victim said, according to a news release from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, that Shaffer became upset after a verbal disagreement and assaulted her by pulling her hair, kicking and punching her. The victim also indicated Shaffer had threatened to kill her during the altercation, the release said.
Shaffer was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence Assault, Class C, and Domestic Violence Terrorizing, Class C. He was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center where he was held with no bail pending his arraignment.
On Nov. 21, at approximately 9 p.m., the Waldo County Dispatch Center received a 911 call leading deputies Littlefield, Dan Thompson and Wiley McVety to a residence in Swanville, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies spoke with a female victim who reported that her boyfriend, Jason Young, 41, of Swanville had become upset with her, which allegedly resulted in her being thrown to the floor.
The complainant also indicated that during the altercation Young threatened to burn her home down and took her phone away from her to prevent her from calling law enforcement to report the incident.
Young was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence Assault, Domestic Violence Terrorizing and Obstructing a Report of a Crime, all Class D offenses. He was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center.
On Nov. 22, at approximately 11 p.m., Waldo County Dispatch Center received two 911 calls from the same residential location in Unity. A victim reported that Jessica Reynolds had left the residence operating a motor vehicle and was allegedly intoxicated. Deputies Dan Thompson and Sgt. James Greeley responded and located Reynold’s vehicle in Unity. She was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Class D.
The deputies contacted Reynold's domestic partner, who reported that he was struck by the door of the vehicle, which knocked him down, when Reynolds drove away from the residence. As a result, she was charged with Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, Class C, and Driving to Endanger, Class E. Reynolds was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center.
