Maine State Police Troop D beat: False inspection stickers, speeding, domestic violence

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity Aug. 4-10. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Aug. 4

    Trooper Desiree Wuthenow investigated a DHS report of an assault in the town of Knox. Upon investigation, no assault had occurred.

    Aug. 5

    Trooper Sarah Ferland responded to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Main Road and Loggin Road in Frankfort. Investigation of the crash is ongoing.

    Aug. 6

    Trooper Moore took a complaint of a pedestrian walking down Parmenter Hill Road in China towards Tobey's Market with a compound bow.

    Trooper Wuthenow took a complaint of a scam in Bangore where the complainant reported that he had paid $1,300 to three men who stated they would lay hot-top tar on his driveway. Upon completion of the job it was not what he had paid for. Nothing was documented and investigation continues.

    Trooper Seth Allen stopped Joshua Heyer, 31, on Route 32 in Windsor for not displaying an inspection sticker. It was determined that Joshua was operating without insurance, had a suspended driver's license and had falsely attached the plates to the vehicle he was driving. Heyer was issued summonses for the offenses and the plates were seized.

    Trooper Allen responded to a crash in Randolph. Investigation revealed that Victoria Beloin, 37, had a warrant for her arrest. Beloin was arrested without incident.

    Aug. 7

    Trooper Allen stopped Aaron Saragosa, 24, in Windsor for displaying an expired inspection sticker and a vehicle defect. Following investigation, Saragosa was issued a summons for sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Aug. 8

    Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Tze Jung Yao on Route 95 in Clinton on an aircraft detail. Tze exceeded the posted speed limit of 70 mph and was issued a summons for criminal speed.

    Trooper Ball stopped Allan Snowdeal, 51, on Maine Street in Richmond for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days. Snowdeal was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Allen stopped Donald Howard, 50, in China for displaying an inspection sticker that was an incorrect shade of green. Howard admitted to having the sticker given to him and was issued a summons for displaying a fictitious inspection sticker.

    Trooper Allen stopped Steve Garand, 46, in Chelsea for displaying an inspection sticker that was an incorrect shade of green. Garand admitted to buying the sticker for $100 and was issued a summons for displaying a fictitious sticker.

    Trooper Bethany Robinson responded to a personal injury crash at the intersection of Route 17 and Route 32 in Windsor. Charges are pending.

    Trooper Corey Smith stopped a vehicle on Route 1A in Frankfort for an inspection violation and determined the registration was expired over 150 days. David Panning, 40, of Bangor was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Smith initiated a fraud investigation in Stockton Springs. Investigation continues.

    Trooper Smith clocked a vehicle traveling 82 mph in a 50 mph zone in Winterport on Route 1A. Luke Short, 24, was issued a summons for criminal speeding.

    Aug. 9

    Trooper Smith assisted with an accidental injury investigation at the Winterport Dragway on Airport Road.

    Trooper Smith clocked a motorcycle on Main Street in Winterport traveling 60 mph in a 25 mph zone. Leonard Tracy, 62, of Levant, was issued a summons for criminal speeding.

    Trooper Smith received a burglary report in Prospect. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Nicolas Gleeson responded to an unresponsive subject in a vehicle at the IGA in Randolph. Daniel Williams, 60, of Pittston, was having a medical episode. After being loaded into a Gardiner Rescue ambulance for treatment, it was found that Williams had taken several items from IGA without paying. The items were still in Williams' possession and he was issued a summons for theft and transported to the hospital for additional treatment.

    Trooper Robinson took a complaint of bad checks written to Hilltop Store in Knox by Crystal Curtis, 29, of Brooks. Charges of negotiating a worthless instrument are pending for Curtis.

    Sergeant Field, Trooper James Leonard, and Trooper Allen responded to Mud Mill Road in Chelsea for the report of criminal mischief. Following investigation, Scott Howard, 30, was arrested for criminal mischief and violating conditions of release. Howard's mother, Angela Howard, 50, was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration.

    Aug. 10

    Trooper Niles Krech stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-295 in West Gardiner. Ambrosia Estrada, 30, was operating with a suspended license and she was issued a summons for the offense. The vehicle was towed.

    Troopers Smith and Ferland responded to Swanville for a reported domestic assault. Arthur Stevens, 57, was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault.
