Knox County Sheriff’s beat: crashes, disorderlies, outstanding warrants
ROCKLAND — The Knox County Sheriff's Office reported the following activity June 22-30. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. In total, this one week period, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 309 calls for service. Those calls that are not listed above are such calls as ATV problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, anuisance, erratic vehicle and suspicious complaints.
June 22
Deputy Robert Potter responded to an ATV problem on Vinalhaven. The operator was issued a summons for operating and ATV on a public way.
Deputy Potter conducted a radar detail on Vinalhaven. No violations were noted.
Deputy John Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained and the operator was issued summonses for expired license and failure to report accident by quickest means.
Deputies Hansen and Paul Pinkham responded to a report of an assault in Owls Head. No charges were sought and the female was removed from the property.
Deputies Paul Spear and Sgt. James Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle. The operator, Shawna Maker, 32, of Warren was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report accident by quickest means and OAS. Subject was taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.
June 23
Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Union. The vehicle and operator were located and no erratic operation was noted.
Hansen conducted a radar detail in Warren. One summons was issued for OAS.
Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren. The operator was issued a summons for an expired license. No damage noted.
Deputy Potter responded to a report of a disorderly complaint on Vinalhaven. The suspects in this case were issued warnings for harassment.
June 24
Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.
Deputy Hansen began an investigation of burglary in South Thomaston. This is still an active investigation with one suspect named.

Potter responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.
Deputies Paul Pinkham and Nathaniel Jack responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained and the operator was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
June 25
Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Appleton involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage sustained.
Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving two vehicles. Reportable damage sustained with one operator being transported to PBMC for non- life-threatening injuries.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in the town of Rockport, Deputy Arthur Smith issued a summons for no inspection.
Potter responded to a report of an assault on Vinalhaven. One subject involved was charged with same.
June 26
Potter conducted a radar detail on Vinalhaven. No violations were noted.
Deputy Jack responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Warren. The vehicle and operator were located and a warning was issued for driving while distracted.
Jack arrested George King, 54, of Appleton on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
June 27
Deputies Pinkham and Smith responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Warren. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Washington, Pinkham issued summonses for no inspection and no insurance.
Deputy Spear arrested Sumner Swett, 38, of Owls Head on an outstanding arrest warrant. Subject was transported to the Knox County jail without incident.
Potter conducted a radar detail on Vinalhaven. No violations were noted.
Subsequent to a traffic stop on Vinalhaven, Potter issued a summons for OAS.
Sgt. Moore arrested Sydni Barham, 26, of Warren, on an outstanding arrest warrant. Subject was escorted to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Elwell conducted a County wide OUI detail. No violations were noted.
June 28
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Rockport, Deputy Joslyn issued a summons for no proof of insurance.
Deputies Spear and Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving two vehicles. Reportable damage sustained with one operator transported to PBMC for non-life-threatening injuries. A summons was issued for improper passing, which is what caused this accident.
Joslyn responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving two vehicles. No damage noted.
