Maine State Police Troop D beat: seat belts, domestic assault, outstanding warrants

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity June 15-22. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    June 15
    Trooper Bethany Robinson responded to Pittston for a report that a female had broken items belonging to her mother-in-law after the two had an argument. Charges are pending.

    June 16
    Trooper Robinson stopped Joel Williams, 42, of Unity, on Route 32 in Windsor for several vehicle defects. Williams was eventually issued summonses for operating after suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle (150+days.)

    Trooper Seth Allen stopped Mikel Cameron, 33, for failing to display an inspection sticker. Cameron provided a false name and his license was suspended. Cameron was arrested and charged with felony operating after suspension and providing a false name/date of birth.

    Trooper Corey Smith investigated a report of embezzlement at Family Dollar in Unity. Adrieanna Ryder, 30, of Plymouth, was charged with theft as a result of the investigation.

    June 17
    Trooper Smith received a report of threatening in Troy. The complainant did not want to cooperate with prosecution.

    Trooper Christopher Rogers stopped Irving Moore, 37, on Main Street in Bowdoinham for not wearing his seatbelt. Moore was on bail conditions not to use or possess drugs or alcohol. Rogers located open alcohol containers and marijuana in the vehicle and Moore was arrested and transported to the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.

    Trooper Nicolas Gleeson responded to a residence in Pittston for a reported assault. It was determined no assault had taken place, however it was found that one of the subjects, Jaime Gibbons, 36, was being sought by Trooper Eric Verhille for charges from a domestic assault that occurred several days earlier. Gibbons was arrested for the previous assault.

    June 18
    Trooper Gleeson was contacted by Togus VA Hospital because a background check revealed a new worker, Michael Stufflebeam, 35, was found to have a warrant for his arrest. Gleeson responded to the hospital and with the assistance of VA police located Stufflebeam at a work site and placed him under arrest for the warrant.

    Sergeant Jeffrey Mills, Trooper Sarah Ferland and Smith responded to a domestic dispute in Unity. Following investigation Tammy Mitchell, 29, was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and violating conditions of release.

    Trooper Ferland received a report of theft at a foreclosed property in Unity. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Ball stopped Stephanie Smith, 23, on Route 9 in Chelsea for failure to display a current inspection sticker. It was determined Smith was operating after suspension and had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Smith was charged accordingly and transferred to Kennebec County Jail.

    Sergeant Mills responded to Belfast Road in Knox for a domestic assault. Following investigation, Laura Stentiford, 20, was arrested for domestic violence assault and criminal mischief.

    Trooper Smith responded to Burnham for the report of a suicidal woman.

    June 19
    Trooper Verhille stopped William McDaniel, 26, of Augusta after clocking his speed at 50 mph in a posted 35 mph zone on Highland Avenue in Gardiner. Further investigation revealed McDaniel's license was under suspension and he was issued a summons operating after suspension.

    Troopers Allen, Verhille, and Adam McNaughton conducted a bail check of Donald Ouellette, 56. Ouellette was found in his home with a female domestic violence victim that he was barred from having contact with and he was arrested.

    Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Timothy J. Meehl, 25, of Monmouth, for an expired inspection sticker on Route 126 in Gardiner. Further investigation revealed that Meehl's license was suspended. Meehl was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    June 20
    Trooper Ferreira stopped Lawrence Chambers, 41, of Dresden, on Route 126 in Gardiner for not wearing his seatbelt. Further investigation revealed that Lawrence's license was suspended and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferreira took a complaint of a gas drive-off at Damon's Quick Stop in Chelsea. An unknown heavy set white male has been conducting numerous thefts of gas at this particular gas station. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Christopher Rogers stopped Lee Gosselin, 36, on Route 201 in Gardiner for a traffic violation. Passenger Jason Sturtevant, 40, was arrested on outstanding warrants. A subsequent search of the car located approximately 3.9 ounces of marijuana. Gosselin was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and Sturtevant was charged with possession of a useable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Allen stopped Robert McKenna, 38, of New York, on I-295 in Bowdoinham for speed. At the time of the offense McKenna's license was suspended in New York. McKenna was issued a summons for operating without a license and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Trooper Verhille stopped Zachery Mosher, 19, of Liberty, after clocking his speed at 87 mph in a posted 55 mph zone on Route 3 in China. Mosher was issued a summons for criminal speed.

    June 21
    Trooper Bethany Robinson stopped a male juvenile from Searsport on Route 220 in Knox for a vehicle defect. He was ultimately issued a summons for possession of alcohol by consumption.

    Trooper Allen stopped James Hanson, 26, in Randolph for a seat belt violation. Hanson was on conditions to not use or possess alcohol or drugs. At the time of the stop Hanson had an 18 pack of Bud Light in the car and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ball stopped Morgan Rosenberg, 34, on I-295 in Richmond for speeding. Rosenberg was also found to be operating after suspension and he was issued summonses for both offenses.

    Trooper Ferland responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Unity Road in Thorndike involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle. Both the operator and passenger on the motorcycle, who were not wearing helmets, were transported to the hospital.

    June 22
    Trooper Gleeson stopped a vehicle on I-295 in Topsham for failure to display an inspection sticker. Investigation revealed Jayson Forgues, 40, was operating after suspension and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Troopers Ball and Gleeson, along with Sergeant Mills, responded to an assault between a male juvenile and his parent. All parties were spoken to and an agreement was reached. No further action was taken.
