BROOKS VILLAGE — The Brooks Park Boosters are pleased to present this year’s annual Independence Day celebration, Brooks Hay Days, on Friday, July 4, at Brooks Community Park.

Festivities include a five mile road race, a parade, Bingo games, an antique tractor show, sheepdog demonstrations from Two Coves Farm, a horse show, the Roberts family chicken barbeque, old fashioned games and competitions, live music, a puppet show, canoe rides and face painting from Camp Forest, a chicken scramble, ice cream from Stone Fox Creamery, and evening fireworks.

Also returning this year is the Farm and Homestead workshop area, featuring talks and demonstrations from local craftsmen, farmers and experts. Beginning at 11 a.m., featured speaker John Bunker, founder of Fedco Trees, will speak about growing apples and other fruit in Waldo County. Other demonstrations include sessions on timber framing, spinning wool, raising backyard chickens and pigs, rug braiding, beekeeping, and making ice cream and homemade wine.

The park gate opens at 10:30am and admission for adults is $2.00; children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
