Wanted Holden man captured in Bangor
WARREN — A Holden man wanted on 12 active warrants who gave Knox County Sheriff’s deputies the slip Tuesday night is in custody.
Chief Deputy Tim Carroll said Friday that 29-year-old Joseph Demmons was apprehended around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Main Street in Bangor. Demmons was reportedly in possession of a concealed weapon, a large knife. In addition to the warrants, Demmons was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and violating bail conditions.
Carroll Wednesday said his office was looking for Demmons, who was last seen in Warren around 6 p.m. Tuesday, when deputies chased him through the woods behind Ande’s Variety off Route 1.
The arrest warrants for Demmons include failure to pay fines regarding operating under the influence, operating after suspension, refusing to submit to arrest, violations of conditions of release and criminal threatening. Carroll said that Demmons is also facing to pending charges for failure to appear in court on theft charges, and that all of the active warrant are out of Bangor in Penobscot County.
“It was discovered that [Demmons] had been staying out in the woods for some time in a make shift hut. Demmons had many trails out through the woods and the deputies were unable to locate him,” said Carroll Wednesday morning.
