Gallery reception for Rockland-based photographer Jim Dugan
ROCKLAND — The Good Tern Co-op will host a reception showcasing the works of photographer Jim Dugan. The event will take place on Sunday, April 6, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at the Good Tern Gallery inside Hole in the Wall Bagels, 754 Main Street, Rockland. Attendees will enjoy light refreshments and the chance to speak with the artist and purchase archival-quality prints. This event is free and open to the public.
Jim Dugan calls himself a generalist as his work in both fine art and commercial photography covers diverse subjects. His work includes portraits, food, furniture, products and, of course, being on the water in Maine. For the last 20+ years Dugan has spent one week a year aboard the Mary Day schooner out of Camden. He offers photography lessons and guidance to that week’s charter guests. The combination of continuity of place over time, along with ever changing wind, water, light, has led to a rich understanding of his subject matter, and new ways of expressing that through photography. Dugan’s current work is almost exclusively with digital photography. Being an early adopter of computer technology, Dugan expanded his photographic work to include drone-assisted photography. The bird’s eye view reveals new ways of seeing his subjects.
Hole in the Wall is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. year-round. The show will be on display from April 1 through June 28.
