Spring season is fast approaching. We are excited to get everyone back on the water! We are looking for rowers to build this team. Never rowed before- no problem - we have a core group of experienced rowers to help get you up to speed. There is no better way to learn.Â
Here are some quick dates and details.
- Attention Parents of Rowers, Rowers and future rowers of Varsity and non-competitive teams: Team info meeting, Thursday March 27th at 5:30PM @ MRC
- Practice start March 31, 2025 at the YMCA, 5:45AM to 7:30AM - Membership to the Y is not necessary.
- We especially need coxswains!

JUNIOR ROWINGÂ DESCRIPTIONÂ
The junior rowing team is for high school athletes, and rowers ages 12+ by coach’s invitation. Megunticook Rowing is not offering afternoon club sessions this season. All juniors will practice together this spring. If you are unsure of your skill level, please contact Will Schaetzke will@megunticookrowing.org.
The team will compete in sweep and sculling rowing at regattas in the New England area. You do not have to compete. Successful completion of swim test or waiver will be required to participate in the on-water training.Â
Level of commitment:
For those rowers who want to compete, all practices and regattas are mandatory
Practices:
- Dry-Land (March 31st – April 21st): Monday through Friday 5:45 am to 7:30 am at PenBay YMCA
- On-Water (April 22nd – May 26th): Monday through Friday 5:45 am to 7:30 am at Barrett’s Cove (BC)
- Captains’ practice: Tuesday and Thursday 3:30pm to 5pm at Y
- TIMES MAY CHANGE BY 1/4 HOUR: ONCE WE ARE IN-SEASON, TIME CHANGES WILL BE POSTED ON SLACK

$400 - for rowers who will not be competingÂ
*Regatta fees are included in the pricing; travel expenses and housing costs for regattas are not included. Rowers will be required to purchase a new uniform or borrow a tank uniform from the club for competition events.
