Maine Water staff donations support communities in 2025
Maine Water employees once again came together to support its local communities with donations through food pantry donations, warm winter coats and scholarships.
Maine Water’s Coats for Kids program is an employee-funded program to purchase brand new coats for kids who otherwise may go cold. This year, employees’ contributions purchased 116 new winter coats.
“Maine Water and its employees are dedicated to be being a force for good in the communities that we are privileged to serve,” said Maine Water President Mark Vannoy, in a news release. “Every day, our passionate and dedicated water professionals, who live and work in communities across Maine, show their commitment to serve their neighbors.”
The coats were distributed to the following organizations:
- Hartland Children’s Holiday Fund
- Bucksport Community
- Millinocket Schools
- Warren Community School
- Thomaston Community School
- Knox County Homeless Coalition
- York County Homeless Coalition
Maine Water employees stretch the donated funds by shopping off-season and at clearance sales. Shopping for 2025 will begin in just a few weeks. Since beginning in 2013, Maine Water employees have donated more than 1,200 coats in the communities they serve.
The company also donated more than $7,550 to 19 food pantries in Maine Water service communities including Camden/Rockland, Biddeford/Saco, Bucksport, Skowhegan, Oakland, Hartland, Greenville, Freeport, Kezar Falls and Millinocket.
In 2024, the company also funded $7,000 in scholarships for graduating high school students.
Maine Water is a public water utility regulated by the Maine Public Utilities Commission. The company owns 12 public water systems engaged in the collection, treatment and distribution of drinking water for homes, businesses and fire protection service to more than 32,000 customers in 21 Maine towns.
