Nick Dorian talks of "The Secret Life of Bees" in horticulture series, Feb. 11
Are there good bees and bad bees? Do they talk? Tune in for the inside scoop on “The Secret Lives of Wild Bees,” presented by Nick Dorian, Ph.D. ecologist and educator. Camden Garden Club, in coordination with the Camden Public Library, welcomes Dorian, Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Dorian is a scientist who studies the ecology and conservation of wild bees. He received his Bachelor’s degree and his Ph.D. in Biology from Tufts University where he was supported as National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and Switzer Environmental Fellow. He is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Chicago Botanic Garden working to optimize pollinator gardens for biodiversity conservation.

"As a teacher, Dorian sparks wonder in his students about the natural world," said Camden Garden Club, in a news release.
He is known for Pollinator Safaris. Dorian public speaker. In 2022, he gave a Tedx talk titled “We’re Saving the Wrong Bees.” He is the author of Bee Watching, the first field guide to wild bees of eastern North America, and he teaches an annual course at Eagle Hill Institute on the topic.
Dorian is also the founder of the Tufts Pollinator Initiative, a student-led project to build capacity in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area for pollinator conservation.

Since 1969, the Camden Garden Club has provided the Winter Horticulture Series of public talks to Camden area residents as a community service in Maine’s coldest months.
