"If a Tree Falls" musical takes the stage in Unity
UNITY — The Ecology Learning Center Drama Club, with support from Counter Current Theater Collective, presents the world premiere of If a Tree Falls, an original musical by Etta Hughes and Carolyn Phelps Scholz.
The musical will be showing Saturday, Dec. 7 and 14, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 15, at 2 p.m., at the Clifford Arts Center, 42 Depot Street in Unity.
Tickets are available at the door, $10 for adults and $5 for students. Fifty percent of proceeds will go to Midcoast Conservancy and Land in Common, a land justice organization.
Affectionately described by the writers as “Romeo and Juliet, but with lumberjacks and woods nymphs,” this folk musical follows environmental and anti-war themes — turning what could have been another classic love story into a poignant and tragic parable.
