Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum to honor Camden community, Dec. 7
CAMDEN — The Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum will honor the Camden community for its contributions to the sports of skiing and snowboarding in Maine on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m., at Camden Snow Bowl.
Camden Snow Bowl has remained a town-owned ski area since its inception in 1936 – one of the few left in the state. In keeping with the museum’s mission to “celebrate, preserve, and share the history and heritage of Maine skiing and snowboarding,” Camden residents will be recognized for their stewardship of this important piece of local history.
Community members and friends of the Snow Bowl are invited to attend the potluck event to share stories and celebrate Camden's rich ski history dating back nearly 100 years. All attendees are asked to bring an appetizer to share.
Admission will be by donation at the door.
The Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum, located on the Sugarloaf Access Road in Carrabassett Valley, was founded in 1995 as the Ski Museum of Maine by a small group of friends from the Sugarloaf Ski Club. Current exhibits include a replica 1950's ski shop work bench, photos of ski area development, and a one-of-a-kind early 1900s Theo Johnsen ski collection. The museum also hosts the Maine Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame induction ceremony each fall, which recognizes individuals who bring distinction to Maine skiing and snowboarding.
