Sheila L. Barnstein, 75, died December 31, 2023 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Sheila was born September 15, 1948 in Amesbury, Massachusetts to Elwin and Evelyn Hughes Rollins. Sheila grew up in Merrimac, Massachusetts and attended local schools.

She worked in a shoe factory for a few years in Haverhill, Massachusetts along side her mother, Evelyn, and sister, Marilyn. She later worked as a bar maid at Giodanos in Georgetown, Massachusetts. She met John Barnstein in 1978 and they got married in 1979.

Sheila and John lived in Kingston, New Hampshire from 1979 until 1985. Sheila and John moved to Warren in 1985. Together they started processing chicken for other purveyors known as “The Last Stop.” In 1990 they began raising, processing and selling their own chickens and turkeys which were sold at the farm and at several farmer’s markets along the Midcoast.

Upon moving to Warren, Sheila began working at Moody’s Diner where she worked for about 15 years. Sheila also continued to work for the family business at farmer’s markets and making pies for the company. Sheila was a hard worker and would do what ever needed to be done to keep the farm going. Sheila was very particular about her appearance, always making sure she looked nice. She was a good person who would help anyone in need.

Sheila was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Warren. Sheila was committed to God and loved singing at the church. Sheila sang at the annual church program and was a member of the couple’s club at the church.

She was predeceased by her son, Frederick Barnstein.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John A. Barnstein of Warren; daughter, Roseanne Barnstein of Warren; grandchildren, Aimee Barnstein of Spruce Head, Preston Vang of Waldoboro, Anthony Breen of Warren; daughter, Wanda Johnson of Appleton.

A memorial service to celebrate Sheila’s life will be held on January 14, at 2 p.m., at the Second Congregational Church, 252 Main Street, Warren with Rev. Bette Bond officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, 78 Main Street, Thomaston.
