State Representative MaryAnne Kinney (R-Knox) is pleased to announce that the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) Work Plan for Calendar Years 2022, 2023 and 2024 is available.

The estimated value of work in the plan totals more than 2,316 individual work items with a total value of $3.17 billion. This represents a substantial increase from last year due to anticipated federal funding, according to a news release.

The MDOT Work Plan for House District 99 includes over $3.41 million for several projects spread throughout Waldo County, including:

    · Light paving and drainage maintenance throughout the district,

    · Large culvert replacement on Route 7 in Brooks, and

    · Lower Village Bridge span replacement in Freedom (Route 137 over Sandy Stream).

“Maine’s roads, bridges and entire transportation network is seriously underfunded,” said Rep. Kinney. “Even though there are additional federal monies this year, they will only go toward covering the higher costs we are all experiencing due to the worst inflation in over 40 years. Like all Mainers, DOT has to try and do more with less money until state government gets its priorities straight.”

The full work plan, searchable by municipality, is available at the Maine Department of Transportation’s website: maine.gov/mdot/projects/workplan/search.
