Storm 10U ice hockey runner-ups in divisional tournament








PRESQUE ISLE — The Maine Coast Storm 10U ice hockey team finished as runner-ups in the 2022 Maine Amateur Hockey Association Tier IV North Division tournament over the weekend. Feb. 4-6, in Presque Isle.
The team opened tournament play with a dominating 10-1 victory Friday over Southern Aroostook before beating Brewer Orange 6-2 and tying Brewer White 5-5 on Saturday.
The Storm started Sunday off with a 9-0 shutout semifinal victory over Brewer Black before being shutout themselves 7-0 by Presque Isle.
Despite the defeat, the team will be participating in the state tournament March 4-6 at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport, its home rink.
The team is 15-1-1 on the season.
Other wins have come against Casco Whalers (7-0), Brewer Orange (9-3; 16-2), SAM Blue (13-1), Brewer Black (8-1), SAM White (6-2; 7-4; 8-1), SAM Red (21-1; 12-1), Maine Evolution (6-1), SAM Blue (6-0; 7-1); Gladiators Gray (7-6) and Gladiators Red (6-4).
The team tied the Gladiators Black (3-3) and lost to Gladiators Gray (7-1).
In the standings, the Storm sit in fourth with 31 points behind Gladiators Red (19-3-0; 38 points), Gladiators Gray (18-3-2; 38 points) and Gladiators Black (15-4-2; 32 points).
