“Please do not be like our friend here and forget to clear off your vehicle; clear the ice and snow before you go,” said Knox County Sheriff’s Office, on its Facebook page.
Deputies have responded to several car accidents that were the result of snow and ice coming off of vehicles.
Though there is no specific law that prevents someone from driving with snow and ice on their vehicle, there are offenses that someone could face if snow and ice come from their vehicle:
- MRS 29A subsec. 2082, Windows and the obstruction of view
- MRS 29A subsecs. 2251-2255, Accidents and failing to report, giving false information or leaving the scene
- MRS 29A subsec. 2396, Substances on Public Ways
