Waldo man accused of creating standoff with new baby is arrested for violating bail conditions
On Friday, January 21, Maine State Police said in a news release that Kote Aldus, 30, of Waldo had violated his conditions of release, his conditions of a protection from abuse order, as well as tampering with a victim.
Aldus had been arrested January 9 after Maine State Police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in Waldo.
A victim and her three-year-old child fled the residence to a neighbor’s home, police said. As Troopers were investigating, Aldus allegedly started firing shots in their direction from inside his residence, which was also reportedly occupied by the victim’s two-week-old baby, according to the Maine Office of Public Safety.
While other members of the State Police Tactical Team were responding, Trooper Tyler Harrington, a Tactical Team member, returned fire.
About three hours later, Aldus was arrested for domestic violence assault, police said. He was taken to a Belfast hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The baby was unharmed.
On Jan. 21, Maine State Police detectives obtained a search warrant and an arrest warrant for Aldus and his property on East Waldo Road in Waldo. At approximately 4:30 p.m., detectives along with the Maine State Police Tactical Team, took Aldus into custody without incident, the news release said.
Aldus was taken to the Waldo County Jail.
