BELFAST — Margaret Hannan, 80 years old, went to be with her husband, Mike Hannan, and son Paul Reilly on July 7, 2021.

Margaret was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on August 5, 1940, to Russell McMillan and Gretchen Winnifred Mosher. Married at 20, she had 3 boys: John, Paul and Timothy Reilly.

In the late 60s, she moved from Massachusetts to Washington, Maine where she met the love of her life, “Mike” Merlin Hannan, and had a son and daughter, Mike and Abbie Hannan. They all lived on the Hannan family farm in Montville. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others and loved to plant a garden every year. Her family especially liked her home-made bread and butter pickles, mustard pickles, holiday Chex mix and baked beans. There was always food on the stove, and if you visited the house, you were going to get fed. In the winter she would get up early to make hot home-made donuts for the town plow drivers.  She worked as a cook at several restaurants, including the 10-4 diner, B&L Store and Madeline’s.

Marge loved her family the most and told them often. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Everyone who knew Marge would say she had a huge heart and compassion for anyone in need. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. We’re all going to miss you Mom, love you.

She is predeceased by her father and mother, Andrew Russell McMillan and Winnifred Gretchen Mosher; step-mother, Marie McMillan; guardian Beatrice Ornell; husband Mike Hannan; son Paul Reilly.

Survivors include son John F. Reilly II and wife Carolyn, son Timothy A. Reilly and wife Ruby; daughter Abbie Hill and husband Greg; son Mike C. Hannan and wife Donna; her sister, Emily Gretchen McMillan; brother Andrew Russell McMillan II; grandchildren John Reilly III, Josh Reilly, Ryan Reilly, Trevor Reilly, Ashley Daignault, Larissa Hannan, Katie Hannan, Cole Hannan, Anna Hills, Nathan Hills; great grandchildren; Liam Reilly, Kinsley Reilly, Maddox Reilly, Aiden Reilly, Baily Goforth, Aubrey Goforth; nephews and nieces, Emily Layman, Billy Keene, Denise Walker, Bernadette Hachey, Ruth Ann Ware; special friends, Shirley Peavey, Deloris Beosso, Art Rypka, Joyce Weeks, Laura Weeks.

Special thanks to the staff at Tall Pines for the excellent care they gave our mother. From what I understand, they all loved her like a mother or grandmother. She spoke frequently of how much she enjoyed being there.
