BELFAST — A Northport man who faced charges of three counts of gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, and unlawful sexual touching, was sentenced in Waldo County Unified Court Oct. 28.

Paul Jasienowski, 63, was indicted Jan. 14 as a result of the Dec. 6, 2018 incident, which occurred at Jasienowski’s Northport home.

As part of a plea, two charges of gross sexual assault were dismissed, while Jasienowski pleaded nolo (no contest) to the remaining charges.

Jasienowski was sentenced to four years in prison with all but four months suspended for one count of gross sexual assault, while two additional charges of gross sexual assault were dismissed. After he serves four months in jail Jasienowski will be on probation for two years. He also received four months in jail for the charge of unlawful sexual contact and another four months in jail for unlawful sexual touching.  The sentences will run concurrently.

Jasienowski will also be required to register as a Tier II registrant on the Maine Sex Offender Registry for the next 25 years. This involves verifying his registration information with law enforcement every 180 days until he is removed from the registry in 2043.

In an Affidavit In Support of a 48-Hour Hold Order, made the same day the incident was reported, Detective Dale Brown, of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, wrote that an officer was contacted by the mother of the victim the day of the incident, who advised law enforcement that her relative had just been sexually assaulted by Jasienowski.

After law enforcement met with the victim, investigators were told that Jasienowski had forced the victim to perform and receive sexual acts with him.

According to the affidavit, Jasienowski admitted to performing sexual acts on the victim and was arrested without incident for gross sexual assault.
