ROCKLAND — The Maine Lobster Festival recently presented $1,050 to local organizations. The donations were collected during the 72nd Maine Lobster Festival. Each day, donations from the public were designated for a different category of local aid.

The Landing Place, a division of Knox County Homeless Coalition, received a $300 donation. The donation was accepted by Director of Development Becca Gildred and Director of the Landing Place Joseph Hufnagel.

Pope Memorial Humane Society received a $200 donation. The donation was accepted by Development Director Chrys deLorimier.

Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen received a $250 donation. The donation was accepted by Reverend Lael Sorensen, Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and volunteer Ron Staschak.

United States Coast Guard Station Rockland received a $150 donation for its morale fund. The donation was accepted by BM1 Daniel Hart.

Window Dressers received a $150 donation. Window Dressers brings together volunteers to produce low-cost insulating window inserts that improve the warmth of homes, lower heating costs, and reduce CO2 emissions. The donation was accepted by Director Laura Seaton.

About the Maine Lobster Festival

Five days of fun and feasting on the coast of Maine, the Maine Lobster Festival attracts thousands of people to the Midcoast region and has a long tradition of giving back to the local community, according to the Festival, in a news release.

In recent years, the festival committee has given more than $500,000 to organizations such as Midcoast Regional Child Development Services, Trekkers, Meals on Wheels, and many others.

The 2020 festival will be July 29 to Aug. 2.
