AUGUSTA — Maine Maritime Academy student Sawyer King, of Appleton, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund on April 11.

One recipient from each Maine county earned a scholarship.

King and other winners were awarded their scholarships in the Maine Senate. King’s family accompanied him.

King’s senator, Sen. Dave Miramant, D-Camden, presented the scholarship check in the Maine Senate.

The Fund was created by the Maine Legislature and staff to annually recognize one student from each county who is currently or is planning to pursue education at a two- or four-year degree-granting Maine college or technical school.

This scholarship is available for full or part-time students.

Applications are available for the 2019-2020 round of scholarships and are due on May 1.
