Day of Giving in Belfast, Camden and Rockland to Support UMC
Event has passed
The holiday spirit is thriving in the Midcoast, where businesses in the Belfast, Camden and Rockland area have set aside Saturday, December 8 to contribute to United Midcoast Charities (UMC) in support of the work of local nonprofit organizations.
Participating shops have committed to generously donate a portion of their sales to UMC, and all proceeds will be applied toward UMC’s grants – which help food pantries, health clinics, nursing services, homeless shelters and other providers of vital services in Knox and Waldo counties. The Day of Giving events are made possible through lead sponsorship from Allen Insurance & Financial and Horch Roofing with media sponsored by Courier Publications.
"Now in its third year, we look forward to building on the success of previous Day of Giving events with even more businesses showing their support for UMC’s local Grantmaking efforts. Everyone can show support by shopping local on Dec. 8,” said UMC Executive Director, Megan Williams.
“I’m so pleased that Belfast shops are joining in this year’s Day of Giving,” said Vicki Tarbell, owner of The Good Table. “UMC’s grants make a difference for so many Waldo county residents, it’s important we do our part to help their efforts.”
Participating businesses this year range from car dealerships to clothing stores to restaurants. All involved will display Day of Giving posters and are listed on UMC’s 2018 Day of Giving Facebook event and at www.unitedmidcoastcharities.org.
United Midcoast Charities, founded in 1942, is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to energize Midcoast Maine nonprofit agencies through finance and guidance, supporting a network of
resources stronger than any single organization. Through a yearly grant application and review process, UMC funds agencies working in four focus areas. More information is available at www.unitedmidcoastcharities.org.
