A look back at COVID case data by ZIP code: Knox, Waldo counties (and some of Lincoln County)

AUGUSTA — With the end of the federal public health emergencies related to the COVID-19 pandemic today, May 11, the Penobscot Bay Pilot is taking a look back at how many COVID cases were reported by ZIP code.

Per Maine CDC’s privacy policy, case counts for ZIP codes in which the population is less than 50 or the population is unknown must be suppressed and are not publicly released by Maine CDC, and exact case counts are suppressed in all zip codes with five or fewer cases or a population less than 2,000.

As per Maine CDC guidance, the below table is sorted by ZIP code since some ZIP codes could span multiple towns. As such, Maine CDC notes the data should not be directly broken down by town and referred to instead by ZIP code.

As of May 9, Knox County has recorded 8,275 cases since March 2020; Waldo County has recorded 8,200 and Lincoln County has recorded 7,059.

The below data is as of May 7, 2023.
